Howard "Gene" Eugene Kail

Gene (Dada) was born on May 6,1936 in Linden, TX and graduated from Odessa High School. He married the love of his life, Geneva Ann Smith on December 31, 1958. They lived a long and blessed life and rarely spent any time apart in their 64 years of marriage. Gene worked at Beneficial Finance until his retirement in 1996. Gene was an active member of Crestview Baptist Church. He spent most of his retirement life enjoying family, playing golf, spending time with grandkids, taking care of the dogs and cats of the family (especially Patches), but most of all loving on Geneva, taking care of the lawn and Meme’s flowers and making her every wish come true.

He is survived by his wife, Geneva Kail (Midland, TX), daughter Priscilla Kail Young and her husband, Danny Young of Sherman, TX, son, Shane Kail and his wife, Elise Wheat Kail of Midland, TX, his sisters – Maurice Kail Turner of Breckenridge, TX and Mary Kail Williams of Odessa, TX, grandchildren, Jessica Young Wilson of Sherman, TX, Brandon Young (girlfriend, Gwen Sommer) of Dallas, TX, Samantha Kail Bronson and Luke Bronson of Littleton, CO and Sloan Howard Kail (girlfriend, Blair Larson-Piske) of Lubbock, TX, his great granddaughter, Quinn Wilson and many nieces and nephews.

Gene wanted to give special thanks to his golfing buddies, EJ, Ron, JT, Mark, and Michael. Special Thanks to Dr. Ganta and his nurse, Danielle, Dr. Bracamonte and Nurse Emma at Midland Memorial Hospital, and Nurse Janell of Hospice of Midland and all of our friends who are so special. Other special thanks are to his neighbors, Raul and Esmerelda, Kamuron and Alexis, Ashleigh and Walker and the kids as well as his special friends, Tommy and Jumper at Hogan Park Golf Course.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents Howard Kail, Betty Kail Brown, his stepfather, Luther Brown, his son, Christopher Howard Kail, his in-laws, Tom and Florine Smith (Paw and Granny).

Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 26, 2023 at Ellis Resthaven Funeral Home from 4:00 – 6:00 pm. A private family graveside will be held at Resthaven Memorial Midland, TX followed by a service at Crestview Baptist Church on Monday, February 27, 2023 at 2:00 pm. officiated by Pastor Samantha Kail Bronson and Pastor Dr. John Gerlach.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Crestview Baptist Church Forward by Faith, Hospice of Midland and the Heart Association.
