

James married his wife, Sharon, on April 14, 1973, in Midland, Texas. The couple celebrated 53 years of marriage together.
Throughout his career, James served as VP at Key Enterprises for 29 years and later worked at Tech Excavation for 9 years before retiring in 2021. James attended Midland Lutheran Church. Outside of work, he had a passion for cars and racing. He also loved his two Schnauzers, Rosie and Bella, who held a special place in his heart.
James is survived by his wife, Sharon; his son, Thomas L. Hindman and his wife, Heather, children and grandchildren Hindman, of Boise, Idaho; his brothers, Ronnie and his wife, Barbara Hindman, of Odessa, Jimmy Sparks and his wife, Diana, of Oklahoma, Thomas Chambers and his wife, Geneva, of Victoria, and Richard Markel of Oklahoma; his sister, Sue Crain and husband, Richard, of Blackwell; as well as numerous nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his father, Edward; his mother, Clorene; and his sister, Kay Markel.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 15, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel at Ellis Funeral Home in Midland, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of Midland in James’ memory.
