Jan Earl Johnson was the second of four children born to Lewis Johnson and Annie Ruth Johnson (Potts) on October 17, 1956 in Midland, Texas.
Jan Earl was saved at a very early age and was a charter member of Faith Temple C.O.G.I.C. in Midland, Texas under Supt. W. C. Kenan. While there, he was an active member of the Faith Temple Youth Deliverance Choir under the leadership of the late Sister Bertha Kenan.
Jan Earl attended Midland public schools and graduated from Midland High School in 1976. He attended Texas Southern University in Houston, Texas where he earned a B.A. and M.S. in Communications and Speech Pathology. Jan Earl pursued a career as a Speech Therapist with the Houston Independent School District and in numerous clinical settings.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lewis Johnson and both grandmothers, Maggie Bradley and Luberta Johnson.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his mother, Annie Ruth Potts of Midland, Texas; two sisters, Gwendolyn Moore and Sandera Johnson-Randle (Marvin) both of Houston, Texas; one brother, Ricky Wade Johnson of Midland, Texas; three nieces, Ashley Moore, Colby Randle, and Deshay Hunter all of Houston, Texas; five nephews, Andre Moore, Ashton Moore and Dreydyn Moore of Ft. Worth, Texas and Maurice Frank and Marquise Frank of Houston, Texas; two aunts, Della Mae Schrock and Ethel Bradley of Midland, Texas; one uncle, Robert L. Johnson (Ethel) of Tempe, Arizona; one God-daughter, Yazmine Kenon of Houston, Texas, and a host of relatives and friends.
Services will be held Saturday December 7, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Faith Temple Church of God in Christ 1605 N. Terrell St. (at Jax) Midland, Texas. He will be laid to rest following the service at Resthaven Memorial Park.
