Jenna Jordan Bird
September 17, 2003 – August 19, 2019
Phrases like, “She was taken way too soon,” or “She was taken before her time,” seem to resonate when a child leaves the earth unexpectantly. However, we do not know the plans God has for each of us, but we can rest assured that His timing is perfect. So, while it seems unfair, or even cruel, to lose a daughter so young, we rest in knowing that there is purpose, there is a plan, and it is heartbreakingly perfect.
Jenna Jordan Bird passed away unexpectedly on August 19, 2019 in Midland, TX at the age of 15. Jenna is survived by her parents, Philip and Amanda Bird of Midland, TX; sisters Janie Bird and Johnie Bird of Midland, TX; grandparents Terry and Debbie Bird of Carrollton, TX and Ada Jordan of Carrollton, TX; great-grandparent Johnie Bird of Abilene, TX, and numerous great- aunts and great-uncles, aunts, uncles, and cousins. She is preceded in death by her grandfather John Jordan of Carrollton, TX.
Jenna was born on September 17, 2003 in Lubbock, TX to Philip and Amanda Bird. Her early school years were spent in Port Lavaca, TX, and she attended high school in Evant, and Greenwood, TX.
In addition to excelling as a student, Jenna never found an activity she didn’t enjoy. While in high school she played volleyball, basketball, ran track, and was on the cross-country team that qualified for the state meet. One of her proudest accomplishments was earning her school letter jacket as a freshman in cross country, cheer, basketball, and UIL Academics, in which earned multiple medals in the areas of journalism writing and literary criticism. Additionally, Jenna competed in multiple FFA events and served as her chapter’s Treasurer. In middle school, she also won the Calhoun County Fair Grand Champion Award for broilers. Jenna enjoyed traveling with her family, hunting with her dad, playing silly games with her sisters, spending time with her friends and extended family, and being involved in her church. Jenna is best known for her love for God, her love for people, her kind, sweet spirit, and her incredible hugs.
