Jimmilee Killough Coffee, 95, left this broken world to join her Father in Heaven on June 4, 2012 with her loving caretakers in attendance. Born on April 21, 1917 in Ft. Worth, Texas, she was the first of 14 children born to James Washington and Pearl Pressley Killough. Her family traveled across Texas residing in various small towns before settling in Brown County. They were direct descendants of the Killoughs commemorated by the monument of the Killough Massacre located northwest of Jacksonville, Texas on what was known as the Killough River.
Mom graduated high school in Early, Texas in 1936. She then moved to Ft. Worth and worked at Montgomery Ward for a year. On a visit to her family in Brown County she met, fell in love and then married Floyd Lee Coffee. Together they had 9 children. Our mother was a woman of strong faith and always trusted in her Lord to guide her through the many trials of this life.
We settled in Midland, Texas in 1958 where she worked for Midland Hardware and then Itasca Drapery Shop. She then used her skills as a custom drapery maker to work from home so she could be there to raise her children with the help of her oldest daughter, Anne Redding. She was an exceptional seamstress and made many hand pieced, hand stitched quilts that her family members treasure. She enjoyed fellowship with her Sunday school class at Bethel Baptist church for many years until health reasons forced her to continue her worship from home.
Mom was welcomed in Heaven by her parents J.W. & Pearl, our daddy Floyd Lee, her brothers Weldon, Morris, Donald and Bill, and her sisters Louise and Kathryn. Our three oldest sisters, Anne Redding, Carol Muse, Margie Head and grandchildren Denise McAlpine, Gaitha Longabaugh and Michael Lake have waited for the embrace of her loving arms. She is survived by six siblings: Mary Fisher-Grosvenor, Texas, Doris Jones and Floyd Killough of Rising Star, Texas, Ruby Parker of Brownwood, Texas, Betty Remmele of Paradise, Texas and Warner Killough of Weatherford, Texas. Also left to cherish her memory are her children: Clinton Coffee, Jeannette and husband Rick Warrick of Brownwood, Judy and husband Ray Robinson of Lewisville, Sue Madry, Gail Coffee and James and wife Jolene Coffee of Midland. Also blessed by her memory are her loving grandchildren, her many great grandchildren and even a few great, great grandchildren. We were truly blessed.
The family wants to thank Home Hospice for their loving care and support. We also want to thank Chaplin Larry Hood of Hospice and Pastor Gary Groves and Church on the Journey for the prayers and comfort.
Visitation will be Thursday, June 7, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Ellis Funeral Home. Services will be held in the Memorial Christian Church Sanctuary Friday, June 8th at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Gary Groves of Church on the Journey officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Jim Muse, Brian Madry, Tim Warrick, Stephen Godwin, Rick Neely, with an open position for Michael Lake. Honorary pallbearers are the rest of her grandchildren. Condolences may be submitted online at www.ellisfunerals.com.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Home Hospice.
