Joe Zarate, 68, of Midland, TX passed away on Saturday, August 19, 2023. He was born to Paul and Trinidad Zarate on October 12, 1954 in Midland, TX. He graduated from Midland High School and worked most of his career as a grocery manager at Albertsons. He married Sharon Thompson on December 21, 1974, and they would have celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary this year. Together they have 3 kids. His greatest joy was being Grandpa to his 12 grandkids and later Pop Pop to his great-grandkids. He loved family gatherings and traveling with the grandkids, especially to Disney.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, brother Rudolfo Zarate, nephew Rudolfo Zarate Jr., niece Payzlee Zarate, and precious Great Grandchild Aero Muniz.
Joe is survived by his wife Sharon, his son Joey Zarate and wife Jessica of New Braunfels, daughters Julia Lujan and husband Edward and Christina Acevedo and husband Jaime all of Midland, Grandsons Jonathan Natividad and Michael Garcia Jr. of Midland and Zabasthien Zarate and Everett Zarate of New Braunfels, TX, granddaughters Savannah Lujan, Jessica Zarate, Victoria Lujan, Miranda Rodriguez, Gabriela Lujan, Nevaeh Acevedo, Isabella Lujan all of Midland and Victoria Zarate of New Braunfels, TX, great-grandson Ezra Garcia of Midland, great grandaughters Avalayna Gonzalez and Aubriela Gonzalez of Midland, sister Mary Zarate of Midland, brothers Paul Zarate Jr, Manuel Zarate, Arnulfo Zarate, Rosendo Zarate, Felipe Zarate, David Zarate .and Hipolito Zarate all of Midland.
Pall Bearers will be his son Joey Zarate, Grandsons Michael Garcia Jr., Zabasthien Zarate, and Jonathan Natividad, son-in-laws Edward Lujan and Jaime Acevedo, Grandson-in-laws Jose Gonzalez and Pablo Muniz.
A public visitation for Joe will be held Friday, August 25, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM at Ellis Resthaven Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 4616 N Big Spring Street, Midland, Texas 79705. A rosary will occur Friday, August 25, 2023 at 6:00 PM at Ellis Resthaven Funeral Home. A breakfast reception will occur Saturday, August 26, 2023 from 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM at Ellis Funeral Home. A funeral mass will occur on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at 12:00 PM at San Miguel Arcangel Catholic Church, 1100 Camp St, Midland, Texas with a burial to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park, 4616 N Big Spring Street, Midland, Texas 79705.
