

John was born in Georgetown, Texas to Bettie and James Davidson January 28, 1951. They settled in Midland a few years later. John served his country proudly in the United States Army from 1967 to 1971 and afterwards became an active member of the Army Reserve. John became a City of Midland firefighter after his service in the Army. He served five years before he moved to College Station to attend Texas A&M. After his graduation in 1983, he and his family returned to Midland, where John took a position as Director of Emergency Medical Services and Fire Science at Midland College. He spent the next ten years educating firefighters, EMT's, and paramedics in their lifesaving professions. In 1993, John was offered a position as Training Officer at Hallandale Fire-Rescue in Hallandale, Florida. After some time, he was promoted to Fire Chief of that department.
John is survived by his wife Freda Bishop Davidson; his daughter Tiffany Davidson Locke and husband Brady Locke; daughter Jodi Davidson Williams and husband Ed Williams; stepdaughter Tressie Fulcher and her husband Denny Fulcher and stepdaughter Kassijo Sappington and her husband Travis Sappington; grandchildren Chase Locke, Cole Locke, Miles Goran, Jordan Williams, Cade Williams, Matthew Sappington, and Joel Locke II and his sisters; Jamie Davidson Thompson and husband Doyle Thompson; Janet Hall and husband Russell Hall; Judy Hinkle and husband Nolan Hinkle, and Marla Morton and husband Richard Morton along with many loving family and friends.
John is preceded in death by his parents James Dickerson Davidson and Bettie Goldberg Davidson, and his sister Bettie Jo Davidson. John will be greatly missed, he had such sweet and gentle manner, he was strong in his faith and always willing to sacrifice himself to help others.

There will be a Graveside Service at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at Resthaven Memorial Park North in Midland, Texas.
Visitation with the family will be after services.
