John Bob Hopkins, 53, of Midland passed away on Friday, January 11, 2013. He was born on October 5, 1959 to Bobby Lee Hopkins and Carrie Ann Matlock. John was part of the class in 1978 to graduate from Lee High. After high school he went to Abilene where he enrolled at Hardin Simmons University with a baseball scholarship. He loved the outdoors which included his job as a rancher. He ran Matlock furniture until he fell ill. John valued his friends and family and had a wicked sense of humor, but was so kind hearted and loving. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Douglas Dean Hopkins.
Those left behind to honor and cherish his memory are his son, Shane Hopkins and his daughter Hailey Hopkins.
Family will receive friends Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at the funeral home between the hour of 6:00-7:00pm. A graveside service has been scheduled at Resthaven Memorial Park for Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at 1:00pm with Brother Bob Porterfield officiating.
