Joyce C. Hunt

Joyce C. Hunt, 82, of Midland went to be with Our Lord on Sunday, December 15, 2013. She was born on July 5, 1931 in Vernon, Texas to Henry and America Upchurch. Joyce married Ray D. Hunt on July 10, 1949. Ray and Joyce moved to West Texas in early 1950’s. Joyce owned Hwy 158 Grocery for over 30 years when she retired in 1994. Joyce’s family was her strong passion. She loved family night every Friday playing cards with her babies. Joyce was an active member of Valley View Church. She will be missed by many and loved by all.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Ray Hunt and her son, Wayne Hunt.

Joyce is survived by her son, James Hunt and wife Belinda of Midland; her daughters: Phyllis Williamson of Midland, Nelda Briggs and husband Paul of Mesquite, Texas, and Melinda Brown of Midland; and her sister, Joy Pechusick of Hermit California. She also leaves behind twelve grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbears will be: Chris Briggs, Justin Williamson, Chad Matlock, Michael Barrett, Jimmy Haile, Daniel Beauchamp, Noble Haile and Reico Patrick. Honorary Pallbears will be her grandson, Brandan Hunt and nephew, Kenneth Hunt.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the American Heart Association, 3205 West Cuthbert Avenue, Midland, TX, 79701.

Family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 18, 2013 between the hours of 6:00pm and 8:00pm at Ellis Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 19, 2013 at 1:00pm in the Chapel at Ellis Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
