Kathy Ann Burk, of Midland, TX, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on August 19th, 2025, after a long, hard battle with cancer.
Kathy was born on November 29th, 1946 to GC Burk and Mary Kathryn Milstead Burk in Lamesa, TX. After her mother remarried, to a gentleman by the name of Leon Roundtree in 1963, the family moved from Patricia, TX to Midland, TX, where she graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1965. After high school, Kathy attended business school.
After her school years, Kathy started her career at Commercial Bank & Trust of Midland, where she worked over 20 years. Her next career venture lead her to Midland Memorial Hospital, where she worked in the business office for 26 years, retiring in 2017.
Along her life’s journey, Kathy had some wonderful four-legged friends. Her first fur baby was a border collie named Pepper. Later down the road, she had two ornery felines named Simon and Garfunkel (aka Garf), whom she loved dearly. In her last few years, she and her sister’s dog, DeeDee, became very close friends.
It has been said that as a youngster, in the cotton field, Kathy accepted Jesus as her Savior. She has spent her life searching for the truth, by reading and studying God’s word. She wanted nothing more than for those she loved, and everyone, for that matter, to know and love Jesus the way she did. She was one of the best prayer warriors ever. She prayed daily for the family, and the world around her. She would often send long text messages that included very detailed and earnest prayers for those she loved.
Kathy loved her family and enjoyed playing the guitar and singing hymns. A close friend of hers said that she still listens to tapes that Kathy had sent her. She loved to share the Gospel with everyone around her. She did so, by passing out Gospel tracts to everyone she would come in contact with, whether at the doctor’s office, or to anyone that would come to the house, including EMS workers. Every hospice employee that came to the house now has something that Kathy gave them.
Kathy was preceded in death by her father, GC Burk; her mother, Mary Kathryn Roundtree, her stepfather, Leon Roundtree; her step brother, Wayne Roundtree; and stepsister Kathy Taylor. She is survived by sister, Donna Neves and children Cameron Neves, wife Stephanie and their children Abigail, Ashley and John; and Jennifer Cox, husband Jimmy and their children Austin, Hannah, and Avery; brother, Gary Burk, wife Ann Burk, and children Chris Burk, wife Jenna and children Travis, Jessa, Journey, and Nash; and Cindi Kalloff, husband Cory and children Walker and Hayden; stepsister Sue Kilgore, husband Danny, and children Keri, Marlena & Cathy.
The family would like to express their most sincere gratitude to Hospice of Odessa (and Midland), Home Care Plus, First Family Fellowship and all of her friends and family that have been a part of her care in her last days. In lieu of flowers, you can send donations to Hospice of Odessa, Home Care Plus or First Family Fellowship.
A Celebration of Life will be held at First Family Fellowship (1201 Tejas, Midland, TX) on Saturday, 8/30/2025, at 10am.
