Leona Emma Teinert
August 11, 1921 – March 12, 2018
Leona Emma Teinert, age 96, of Midland went peacefully to Heaven at her home on March 12, 2018. Leona was born August 11, 1921 in Loraine, Texas to Wilhelm and Lillie Baumann. The family moved to Midland in 1929. She attended Midland schools and graduated from Midland High School in 1939. In the early 40’s she attended Jolly Beauty College and received her Beautician License and worked at the Downtown Barber/Beauty shop in Midland for Elsie. Leona met Gus Teinert at church and after his discharge from the Army they were married in 1945. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, belonged to Parish Workers and Grace Quilters. She loved to cook, sew, and garden. Leona is preceded in death by her parents; husband Gus; son Gary; sister Eldora, and brother Sonny. Leona is survived by her daughter Sandy Traughber and husband Brian; four granddaughters, Amanda Newsom and husband Doug, Shawna Teinert, Bonnie Traughber, and Emily Jones and husband Jordan; three great grandsons, Colton, Ethan, and Jax; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at Ellis Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. Services will be held at Grace Lutheran Church on Thursday, March 15, 2018 at 1 p.m. with Pastor Robert Pase officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be sent to Grace Lutheran Church, Hospice of Midland, or the charity of your choice.
