She was born in Mercury, Texas on June 14, 1916 to Sidney & Emma Mae Lawson. She was raised there In Mercury until she met the love of her life, Hubert E. Benton in Dawson County, Texas, and married on February 23, 1935 in Lamesa, Texas. They farmed in Dawson County until 1944 when they moved to the Greenwood area farming in that area until retirement. Marie and Hubert were members of Greenwood Baptist Church.
Hubert and Marie celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in 2005.
Visitation will held at Ellis Funeral Home, Friday, September 15, 2017 between 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 16, 2017 at 10:00 AM in the Ellis Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Zach Crook officiating. Pallbearers are John Bryan, Dillon Kolp, Bill May, Jr, Blake and Jerry Miles and David Wade.
Survivors include her son, Michael R. Benton and his wife, Darlene of Spring, Texas; granddaughter Missy Bryan and her husband John, and niece, Linda Miles along with a host of many friends.
