L. G. (Dick) Atchley, 92, of Midland passed away on January 21, 2014. He was born on January 13, 1922 in Clarksville, Texas to John Douglas Atchley and Lenora Bullord. He married Willie M. McClendon on May 29, 1941 in Healdton, Oklahoma. Dick worked as a produce and frozen food salesman for 35 years. He was a member and Deacon of Belleview Baptist Church.
Those left behind to honor and cherish his memory are his sons, Richard and wife Nancy Atchley of Humble, Texas and Larry and wife Glynda Atchley of Ennis, Texas; his two daughters, Peggy Nowell and husband Doug of San Angelo, Texas and Barbara (Tranum) and David Smith of Globe, Arizona; a brother, Bob Riley of Paducah, Kentucky; 12 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, 5 sisters and 2 great grandchildren.
Family will receive friends on Friday, January 24, 2014 at Ellis Funeral Home between the hours of 6:00pm and 8:00pm. Funeral service has been set for Saturday, January 25, 2014 at 10:00am at Belleview Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
