Louis Earl Gibbs

Louis Earl Gibbs, 77, of Midland passed away on Friday, January 11, 2013. He was born on March 4, 1935 in Wichita Falls, Texas, to Jennings Bryan Gibbs and Belva Ruth Matthews Gibbs. He served in the Army from 1958 -1960 and in the Army Reserves for four additional years. Following completion of basic training, he married Marylyn Scoggins on May 3, 1958 in Silsbee, Texas. They moved to Midland in February, 1960. They have been members of Kelview Heights Baptist Church since 1970 where Louis was privileged to serve in various capacities, including Superintendent of the 5 year old Department for many years and as song leader of the Keenager's class. He retired from Texaco after 27 years.

He is preceded in death by his parents and elder son, Steve Anson Gibbs.

Those left behind to honor and cherish his memory are his wife, Marylyn Gibbs; son, Darrick Earl Gibbs and wife, Moonhee, of Modesto, CA; Daughter-in-law, Debbie Gibbs, of Houston, TX; Sister, Darlene Wise, of Irving, TX; two Sisters-in-law, Shirley O'Neal, of Midland, TX and Margaret Brewer of Richardson, TX; Brothers-in-law, Curtis Scoggins and wife, Varda, and Conrad Scoggins and wife, Jeanelle; three Grandchildren, James Gibbs and wife, Jessica; Jason Gibbs, his wife, Ashley and son, Jack; Marylyn Byrd, her husband, Jared Byrd and son, Kaden Byrd; nephew, Keith Roberts, niece, LaDonna Roberts and niece, Vikki Tracy.
