Lucille C. Barnes

Texas Lucille Cooke Barnes, 86, of Midland, passed away on Friday, December 23, 2011. She was the last child of John Cooke and Lillie Patrick Cooke. Lucille was born on July 1, 1925 in Fort Stockton, Texas. She married the love of her life, David E. Barnes Jr. in April 1945 and moved to Midland. A very hardworking woman, Lucille retired from Walgreens after more than 30 years of service. She was a faithful, longtime member of Crestview Baptist Church. Lucille had a green thumb and loved to work in her yard and also loved sewing.

Lucille is preceded in death by her beloved husband; both parents; one son, Freddy Barnes; and one daughter, Rebecca Barnes.

She is survived by her sons, David Barnes and Pat Barnes; her daughter, Barbara Beadle; six grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Also left to cherish her memory are numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Ellis Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at Ellis Funeral Home with interment to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
