On May 20, 2013, Marion Lee McGaughey was carried to Heaven by God’s angels and placed directly into the loving arms of his Heavenly Father. He will be greeted by his parents, brothers, sister, son and many others family member and friends who have preceded him. What a glorious reunion that will be! Marion was born June 13, 1929 in Bangs, Texas. Marion married his beloved wife June, August 23, 1948 in Coleman TX.
Marion and June have two children, Mike & Kathy. During their school years, Marion was the treasurer for many of the schools and churches they attended. His hobbies included creating beautiful yards and gardens with his wife in every home they lived in, doing accounting work and playing games (especially Bridge) with family and friends.
Marion retired from General Telephone Company in 1987, after serving 33 years as Budget and Special Studies Director in San Angelo and Brownwood. In 1987, he and his wife built a beautiful retirement home on Lake Brownwood. In 1994, they moved back to San Angelo for a short time before moving permanently to Midland, TX in 1996 to live in the same town as their daughter.
Marion and June are members of Crestview Baptist Church in Midland, TX and charter members of Glen Meadows Baptist Church in San Angelo, TX. He loved the Lord and one of his happiest memories was the joy that he and June shared in helping to establish Glen Meadows Baptist Church in San Angelo, TX in 1987. With nine other faithful Christians, God grew the church from eleven Charter Members to 2000 members by May 2013. Marion served as Treasurer and June served on the Building Committee.
Marion was a devoted, loving Christian husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. Marion truly loved his Lord, family and friends and thanked God for them as they truly blessed his life, just as he blessed everyone who knew him.
We would also like to take this opportunity to express our gratefulness for all of the wonderful caretakers who helped so much during this journey. Our special thanks go to Dr Miller, Dr Best, Dr McLarey, Midland Memorial Hospital, Senior Care and Midland Hospice.
