

She grew up with her parents, Dan and Edna Savich, and her seven brothers and sisters on a farm. She graduated from Northome High School as Salutatorian of her class, and went on to work on several military bases as a civil servant in Ogden, Utah, Guam, and Hawaii. In 1942, while in Hawaii, Martha was elected Queen of the Island. She moved to Lubbock, Texas in 1943 and made Lubbock her home. She married Jimmy Scott, with whom she had two sons, and was later divorced. Martha managed the Lubbock Country Club, owned and operated several restaurants, and was the manager of several 7-11 stores for Southland Corporation, retiring in 1983. She was awarded many honors for her hard work, dedicated service, and willingness to serve, including Woman of the Year for several years. Martha is preceded in death by her parents, Dan and Edna (Nordby) Savich, and her beloved brothers and sisters, Doris Lotten, Ana Lindsey, Buddy Savich, and Laura McGraw.
She is survived by her sons, whom she adored, Roy Scott and wife Debbie of Midland and Dr. Dan Scott of Denver, Colorado. She is also survived by a grandson, Steven Scott of San Angelo, Texas, her brothers, Dan "Buster" Savich and his wife Marion of Blackduck, Minnesota and Robert "Bob" Savich of Bigfork, Minnesota, one sister, Elsie Fee of Blackduck, Minnesota and many nieces and nephews.
Service will be at the chapel at Ellis Funeral Home on June 21, 2011 at 11:00 a.m., Patrick Peyton officiating.
