Mike was born in Elko, Nevada on April 28, 1945 where he raised hell and gave his parents panic attacks until his 1963 high school graduation from Elko High School. He graduated from Northwestern Institute of Medical Technology at Minneapolis in 1967 before serving in the US Army from 1967-1969.A leg injury placed him on the bench where he then moved to Nebraska where he met his future Wife, Betty, while working in a local hospital. The two love birds cast their votes on election day, November 3, 1972 in David City, Nebraska and soon moved to Carlsbad, New Mexico.
Mike worked for the potash mines while In Carlsbad, but spent the majority of his time telling stones and cracking jokes at the Elks Lodge. Mike and Betty had two bouncing and beautiful kids while in Carlsbad and Mike returned to the big leagues graduating with his Associates degree in radiological technology from the Dona Ana Branch Community College of New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, New Mexico in 1985. Mike and the family moved to Midland, Texas where he worked the night shift for 26 years before retiring.
Mike didn't let retirement slow him down. Like his youth he was always on the go. If his kids were involved he was there and usually involved too He enjoyed spending time with family. Through the years, his kids activities were replaced with his grandkids, Noah and DJ's sports and activities. He served in many capacities as dad, coach, umpire, and cheerleader to his kids, grandkids, and many nieces and nephews. Mike liked to travel to see his nieces and nephews in their settings and spend time with them He was a family guy. Mike was Uber before Uber was trending, as he provided rides to cancer stricken patients to doctors appointments through the American Cancer Society. Aside from being with family this was something Mike was most passionate about. In his spare time, Mike battled cancer himself.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Antoine and Ellen Primeaux; brother Roy Primeaux; in-laws, Edwin and Mary Wilson, and sisters-in-law Mary Lou Pirnie and most recently Vicky Leffert.
Mike is survived and missed by his wife of 45 years, Betty; son Chris (wife Irma); grandson Noah, and granddaughter DJ all of Odessa Texas; daughter Michelle Perkins (husband Jonathan) of Abilene, Texas; brother Charles Primeaux (wife Dee) of Elko, Nevada; several cousins and many nieces and nephews all over the United States of America, as well as his loyal companion and dog, Jack.
A memorial service will be held in the Ellis Funeral Home Chapel at 2 pm on Friday, April 13, 2018.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in Midland, Midland Humane Coalition, Odessa Police PPAP, New Horizons Ranch and Center in Abilene or charity of choice.
