Molly Evelyn Fox was an only child born in Reno, Nevada on May 25, 1930. Her Father, John E. Fox, worked and owned a pharmacy wherever they lived throughout Texas. Molly would do various chores like sweep the floors and work the ice cream counter. She went to boarding school in Abilene at the age of 14, and met her lifelong best friend Martha there. Molly was an avid dancer in High School, frequenting group dances in various towns, and even winning the Jitterbug Contest in Chillicothe, TX. She spent Summers in Big Lake, TX. where she had many fond memories like learning how to drive and spending quality time with her extended family there.
Molly met Joe Mac Parsley at a New Years Eve party in Olney, TX. in 1948. Despite both being with other dates that evening, Joe kissed Molly at midnight. This kiss was the beginning of a very long life together. Molly married Joe in 1950. She worked as a keypunch operator in the Capital while Joe was studying Engineering at the University of Texas. Their first apartment was $40/mo. on the Speedway in Austin, TX. They began a family soon thereafter. Molly was a truly dedicated and very involved Mother to her 2 lovely daughters, Lynn and Jan Parsley. She was a rock of Support for her 3 grandchildren, and was lucky enough to have known and loved her 4 great grandchildren. She had a deep fondness for all animals, having reared turtles and many dogs along the way. Molly particularly loved the close companionship of her dear chihuahua, Tinkerbell. She was blessed to have many friends in her life, and was especially bonded to those that cared for her in her later years.
Molly and Joe traveled the world together. Amongst the many places they visited, her favorite locations were: Japan, Switzerland, New Zealand, and Maui. These places made an indelible impression on her, and influenced the way she dressed, decorated her home, and saw the world around her. Molly lived the majority of her life in Midland, TX, a city she loved and knew like the back of her hand. It wasn’t at all uncommon for someone to recognize & chat at length with her wherever she would go. Her favorite restaurants included La Bodega, Luigi's and Venezia's. Molly was proud to donate to the construction of the Fox Building for Midland College in memory of her hardworking parents John and Leona Fox in 2005.
Molly had a sensibility and style that was uniquely her own. She was a loyal friend, always spoke her mind, and was very protective of her family and close friends. Her phone was known to ring often, to which she enjoyed having conversations with so many. She was a ruthless Hearts card player, enjoyed local gossip, cooked a tender brisket, watched game shows regularly, loved lemon pie, & was known to be the fastest driver behind the wheel of a Cadillac in Texas. She was a fiercely independent woman who lived her life on her own terms. Molly challenged those around her to be strong, to be themselves, and to not forget to look stylish doing it.
Molly is survived & deeply missed by her daughters Lynn Maxwell and Jan Parsley, 3 grandchildren: Hannah Maxwell, Bryan Sheffield and Cassandra Almog, and 4 great-grandchildren: David Almog, Maxwell Rabdau, Hugh and India Sheffield. A sincere thanks to everyone who has ever assisted Molly, both in her personal care & in helping maintain her home. Heartfelt gratitude goes out to : Erica, Gina, Rudy, Sandy, Mary, Pepper, Lori, Amy, Maricela, Wendy, Carolyn, Lee, Cheryl Vallie CFNP, Kindred Hospice, & the Fritschen Family.
