My thoughts and prayers are with family. Rene was the sweetest person always helping when needed. I wasn't around her much but what time I was I found to be in the presence of love! She is gone but will never be forgotten we love you Rene.

My thoughts and prayers are with all her family! I do fond memories of her when I was a child! She looks beautiful and as always, her smile would light up a room! Sadly due to my age and health I will be unable to attend the services. I know God is welcoming her into heaven into his loving arms! Goodbye Aunt Rene! Jennifer

Dear Family of Mrs. Myrtle Florine "Rene" Brooks Self, (Aunt Rene),

May it comfort you to know that others are lifting you up with their prayers.

My heart is heavy heart as I mourn the death of Aunt Rene. She was a fine and caring woman, and a loving aunt.

I'll always remember her smile and laughter and her kindness to me. I loved visiting with her and Uncle Roscoe. One of my fondest memories of her is when y'all visited us in New Harmony. We were helping Mama and Aunt Rene do the washing, and they had just made us a treat of "sugar and butter bread". Mary Frances dropped hers in the washtub and started crying and insisting that Aunt Rene hang it up to dry ... so she did. ... Of course it dropped to the ground instantly ... and more crying ensued ... and so did our laughter at the funny sight.

I regret that due to my health, I will not be able to be there in person to say a last goodbye, but I will be there in spirit.

As HE welcomes her we must say goodbye only to her physical being ... because she will remain in our hearts.

Sincerely,
Martha Brooks Rothkamm (Bunny)
