Nicholas Charles Binder

On July 11, 2009 Nick married the love of his life Ashley Danielle Binder at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Midland, Texas. Their story began long before that, having known each other since 1990 as Ashley was “the girl next door’. Together they built a beautiful life centered around faith, family, and unconditional love. Above all else, Nick’s greatest joy was his family. He loved his wife, Ashley, fiercely and was an incredibly proud father to his “mini me” Jaxon Charles Binder and his princess Kaylyn Jade Binder. His children were his sunshine and there was nothing he wouldn’t do for them.

Nick graduated from Lee High School in 2006 and attended Midland College. He was raised in St. Ann’s Catholic Church, where he later married the love of his life and best friend Ashley. He went into the oilfield in 2007 working for Versatile Oil Tools & later Well Foam Inc. Through determination and hard work, he worked his way up from a shop hand to consultant and service supervisor earning the respect of everyone whoever had the privilege of working with him.

Nick never met a stranger, treated everyone with kindness, and was the person everyone called when they needed help. He could fix anything. Nick ran when someone came calling and would drop everything for his family and friends. His kindness, generosity, and willingness to help others will always be remembered.

He found happiness in the simple things: Nick loved to fish, race dirtbikes & fast cars, spending time at the lake on his boat, hunting, listening to music, playing pool, BBQing and spending every moment possible with his family. Nick was also an animal lover, and their home was a small SPCA to Gypsy, Halle, Rousey, Lucy, Jenni, Dash, Sophie, Jinx, and Shelly.

Nick treasured his many lifelong friendships and considered all his cousins among his closest friends. Throughout the years Justin Stephenson, Tyler Rackley, Dario Hernandez, Holden Hanks, Keith Watlington, James Lyles, Chente Chavez, Toppie Crosswhite, Mark Burns, Tyler Haddock, Cameron Burdine & Jim, Jack, Jose were some of his besties. ;-) Nick was like the waterboy, he loved his momma! Nick was the life of the party and had many “Nick” names; Nicky, precious #1, brotherrrrr, cabeza de melon, Nicho-flies, el guero loco, ding dong, dingus, & pelon head.

He is survived by his loving wife, Ashley Danielle Binder of Midland; his two beautiful children Jaxon Charles Binder and Kaylyn Jade Binder; his parents Cindy & Kurt Light; Charles & Lisa Binder; stepdad Justin Colley; his father and mother-in-law, Ricky and Dinah Chittum; his brothers Joshua “Josh” Binder, Christopher Wells & wife Samantha Cason, Korbin & wife Macy Light. His sisters Chelsea “Binder” & husband Josh Johansen, Whitney Wells, Ashley Brooke Binder. Brother-in-law Ryan Chittum. Sister & brother-in-law Rob & Lindy Hudman.

“Uncle Nicky” leaves behind nephews; Kasen Hudman, Declan Wells, Cian Wells, Caleb Wells, PJ Cason, Marcus Cason. Nieces; Kameryn Hudman, Sariah Binder, Isabella Cason, Alissa Binder, Ainslee Wells, Taylor Wells, & Lyla Light.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Joe & Sue Davenport; paternal grandparents, Edmond and Dorine Binder; grandparents Jack and Reba Colley, Wendall and Lucille Light, Mary Frances Heffernan, and Ray Terrell Chittum Jr.; great-grandparents Bobby and Margaret Jean Lambeth; and his uncle’s George Binder, Joe Binder, & Ricky Werner.

Nick’s legacy is one of unwavering love, loyalty, hard work, and over all selflessness. The lives he touched are better because he was in them, and while his passing leaves and immeasurable void, his love will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and friends forever.
