First I want to express my deepest sympathies, prayers for comfort and support to all the family. I was one of the Original team mates in Ike's roller Hockey team starting at the age of 12 years old.. Many of us were within 2 to three years of that age. We grew up playing and Skating at Ike and Sue's Rink.. We were not just kids skating and playing hockey. We became like family.. Ike and Sue were like 2nd Parents and the Rink a 2nd home... Let me say, There are people who come into your lives that effect who are and who you become. We, Ike's boys and many other who were close to Ike and Sue that skated there, were so blessed to Have Ike and Sue come into and BE a part of our lives at a vey young age... We will dearly miss you Grandad. We are thankful we married your grandsons, Eric Wayne and Brice Wayne, and we are Fitzgeralds. We will miss your infectious smile, your loving heart, and the way you loved to tell stories of days gone by.

2 years ago I received a rink hockey achievement award from our National Organization for 60 yrs of actively playing roller hockey(I literally played for 60 yrs.). I mentored many hockey players through the yrs as well as many national championship teams. I could literally write a book on what Ike,Sue,"Runt" and Vy Evans did for me. They were my family. I am what I am today because of this man. Whenever I visited with Ike, I tried to impress upon him the many Lives he touched through me. He was a great man and through me and other individuals he mentored, his legacy lives on. Milt Moody Fredericksburg tx

Ike was a wonderful man, who I was blessed to be able to call Dad.   He will be greatly missed by all of us.  We will tell his great granddaughters, Camber Christine and Kymber LeAnne Fitzgerald, and those to come, what a great man he was,  so his memory will live on through the Fitzgerald generations. I loved him and will continue to love him.  
You lived your life for your family and for the children of this world who desperately needed glasses. I know you are dancing with the love life; until we meet again sir.

Speaking for all MFD retirees, I'd like to offer to the Fitzgerald family our deepest and most heartfelt condolences. Those of us who worked with Ike found him to be a breath of fresh air, always laughing and seldom upset, even on a fire scene. We will miss him as a member of our extended family.
