Patricia Louise House

Patricia Louise (Patty) House, affectionately known as “Mar” to her family, passed away on March 27, 2011, after a brief illness. She was born in Seminole County, Oklahoma, on July 27, 1930, to Paul and Louise M. Wallach. In 1933 the family moved to Eunice, New Mexico, where Patty graduated from high school. After spending time at college, she returned to Eunice where she met B. L. (Bernie) House, who she married on November 26, 1948.

In her younger years, Patty was very active with the Midland Memorial Hospital Auxiliary (Pink Ladies) and served as President at one time. More recently, she volunteered as a delivery driver for Meals on Wheels in Midland and introduced her grandchildren into the idea of service to others.

Patty and Bernie loved to travel, see new places, and meet new friends. They often shared their travels with their kids and grandkids. Whether at home or on the road, Mar was always a “world class grandmother”. For the past several years, she has loved Wednesday lunches with her friends and her Thursday bridge group. Patty and Bernie attended St.Mark’s United Methodist Church for many years and more recently, Patty has been a member of the First United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bernie; and her youngest brother, Ray Wallach.

She is survived by her brother Robert P. Wallach and his wife, Barbara; her sons and daughters-in-law, Lee and Jennie House, and Charles and Ellen House, of Midland; her grandchildren, Brian House of Midland, Caitlin and Zane Leak of Midland, Angela Palma of Austin, Jeff House of Ft. Worth, and James House of Midland; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family would like to acknowledge Midland Memorial Hospital and Hospice of Midland for their concern and care for Patty in her final days.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Hospice of Midland, or a charity of choice.

The family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 p.m., on Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at Ellis Funeral Home. Graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday March 30, 2011 at Resthaven Memorial Park. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday March 30, 2011 at 2:30 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, Rev. Macky Pitts officiating.
