

Father on Friday November 21, 2014 at MD Anderson Hospital in Houston, Texas after a
short battle with cancer.
She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and Aunt. She loved her family very
much.
Pat was born in Sedalia, Missouri to Joseph and Olynda Drake on March 24, 1935. She
graduated from Lamar High School in Houston, attended TSCW in Denton, Midland
College and graduated from UTPB.
She was a long time member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church and later joined Christ
Church Anglican where she served on the Vestry, various prayer ministries and prayer
groups. She was a member of the choir at Christ Church, and a member of The Daughters of the Holy Cross. Pat was very spiritually orientated and was a special prayer warrior praying for
anyone needing prayers at any time. She was very dedicated to her Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, John Drake.
Pat was a long time volunteer at the Life Center, prayed with cancer patients at the Hope
House, was a mentor at Santa Rita School, did Pastoral Care at the hospital and was a
member of the Children's Service League.
She married the love of her life Bob Thames on February 5, 1954 in Fort Worth, Texas.
The family moved to Midland in 1963.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother John Drake.
She is survived by husband Bob of 60 years, son Bob III and wife Sher of Littleton,
Colorado, son Joe and wife Stacy of Midland, daughter Jacque Cain and husband Gary of
Midland, daughter Lynda James and husband John of Midland, sister Joan Eccles of San
Antonio, sister in law Shannon Thames Burdette of Kerrville. Eight grandchildren,
Christopher, Jason and Garrett Cain, Brad, Bryan and John Tyler James, Brice and Tessa
Burgess. Five great grandchildren, Austin and Denton Cain, Emma Cain, Kristian and
Keslee Burgess, Alyssa Ontiveros, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Ellis Funeral Home Friday November 28 from 5:00 pm until
7:00 pm. A family graveside service will be held at Resthaven Memorial Park in Midland
at 9:00 am Saturday November 29, and a Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on
Saturday November 29, at Christ Church Anglican, 5501 Midkiff Road, Midland.
Memorial Donations may be given to The Life Center of Midland, Hope House of
Midland, Christ Church Anglican of Midland or the charity of your choice.
