

Peggy was born on October 26, 1939, in Hobbs, New Mexico. On November 26, 1960, she married the love of her life, Doyle D. Jones. Together, they shared 58 years of devotion.
A faithful member of First Christian Church in Midland, Texas, Peggy was a member of the Disciples Food Pantry, where she served for over 20 years and was also a loyal member of the church bell choir. Her leadership and compassion helped feed countless families in need, and her legacy of service continues to impact the Midland community.
Peggy also worked for decades as the trusted office manager for the Gibson and Knox families, earning their respect and affection through her integrity and dedication.
Gifted with endless creativity, Peggy found joy in many things she loved—especially cooking, where she embraced every cuisine with enthusiasm and always got it right, whether it was a Southern classic or an international dish. She also had a talent for crocheting and a passion for genealogy, spending hours uncovering family stories. A true animal lover, Peggy always had a beloved dog by her side, each one treated like family. She held a special place in her heart for all animals, greeting others’ pets with the same warmth and affection.
Peggy was surrounded throughout her life by a cherished group of lifelong friends. Together, they traveled, played games, and gathered for dinner parties—creating memories filled with laughter, love, and enduring companionship. These friendships were a source of great joy and support, enriching her life in countless ways.
She is survived by her loving family: Joyce Guy of Andrews, Tom and Barbara Burnett of Canyon, Sharene Swindall of Midland, Dan Shackelford of Seminole, Tom and Linda Guy of Snyder, Cindy Veigel of Canyon, Clark Burnett of San Diego, and Scott and Lisa Guy of Big Spring. She also leaves behind numerous great-nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved dearly.
Peggy will be remembered for her servant’s heart, her joyful creativity, and her unwavering love for her family, friends, and community. She lived a full and generous life, and her spirit lives on in all who knew her.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, May 10, 2025 at 1:30 pm at Resthaven Cemetery in Midland, followed by a reception at 2:30 in the First Christian Church gymnasium.
