Peggy Sue Jones Hahn was born on July 29, 1931, in Roscoe, Texas to Jesse Faye and Woodrow Milton Jones. She died on June 19, 2023, a month away from her 92nd birthday.
Peggy graduated from Monahans High School in 1947 and later moved to Midland, Texas. She attended Texas Tech University and was a member of the Tri Delta Sorority. She met her late husband, Lawrence Hahn, in Monahans on a blind date right after high school, while Lawrence was home from the Air Force.
Lawrence and Peggy both attended Texas Tech University before Lawrence went on to the University of Texas Law School. After college, Peggy worked for Texaco as a draftsman and Lawrence worked for Exxon as a landman. They married on November 24, 1953, and were married for 45 years, until Lawrence passed away on November 9, 1999. Peggy remained active in the family business for many years after Lawrence passed away and she had strong business acumen.
Peggy was the matriarch of the Jones family. She was Mom, Granny Peggy, Aunt Peg or Peggy Sue. She was incredibly devoted to her family, and they were her key focus. She told her daughters that if everyone would do their best to take great care of their own extended families, we wouldn’t need nearly as many charities. No matter who needed help, financial assistance, or a kind word, Peggy could always be counted upon. She strongly defended every member of her family and saw the best in each of them.
Peggy was quiet, mild-mannered, easygoing, witty, patient, and caring. She had an inner strength that helped her battle illness and carry on. She seldom complained. She was a great cook and known for her chocolate meringue pies, banana pudding, and German chocolate cakes which were requested at every birthday and holiday. Peggy enjoyed bridge and played board games with her family until she was 91. Her mind remained sharp.
Peggy was preceded in death by her late husband, Lawrence Hahn. Her parents Faye and Woodrow Jones, and her three younger brothers, Jackie Jones, Bill Jones, and Jerry Jones.
Left to cherish her memory are: her three daughters, Cygne Nemir and husband David, Leslie Standley, Lori Sherman and husband Robert; Nephew Leonard Jones; Sister-in-Law Charlotte Jones; Grandchildren Stephanie Nemir and husband Dmitry, Audra Nemir, Tracie Gambol and husband Danny, Sherrie Standley; Charlie Standley and wife Anastasia, Charles (Trey) Vetters, and Charlie Standley; Great-grandchildren Madison Benavides, Harley Espinosa, Parker Gambol, Hunter Gambol, Xxayden Standley, Marissa Standley, Caysen Standley, Paisley Standley, and Nolan Lawrence Nemir; Nephews and nieces: David Martin, Kay Taylor, Deborah Gorney and husband Ron, Darrell Jones and wife Jill; Stacey Zagorski, Douglas Jones and wife Kelly, Michael Jones; and many great-nephews and nieces including Lauren and Ava Zagorski, Kayla Jones, Kelsey Gorney, Kylee Herbig, Brenna Jones, Braeden Jones, Brett Williams, Brandi Brinker and Carrie Jones.

Peggy looked forward to seeing them every day as they cared for her above and beyond their call of professional care and love. We are also thankful for the loving care provided by Dr. Shylesh Ganta and for her long-time valued employee and friend Anthony Sullivan.
