

Phillip Becker, 89, of Midland, died on May 18, 2012. He was born in Moran, Kansas March 29, 1923. Parents were Clyde and Bessie Gray Becker. When a young boy, the family moved to Chickasha, Oklahoma and Phillip graduated from Chickasha High in 1941. He was a student at the University of Oklahoma when war was declared. In November of 1942, he left OU and joined the Army to serve his country, alongside his identical twin brother, Donald. Following World War II, Phillip met and married Ruth Elizabeth Knight. They were married 65 years. He completed his Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Geology at the University of Oklahoma in 1949. Phillip was a geologist for Kerr-McGee in Oklahoma City, transferring to Midland in 1953 to open an office as Exploration Manager. He then became an independent geologist and worked in Midland for the remainder of his career. He was a member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, The Keystone Sunday School Class, AAPG and SIPES. He was preceded in death by his parents, 5 brothers, Fred, Ted, Bob, Donald and Clyde, and 2 sisters, Margaret and Laura. He is survived by wife Ruth Becker of Midland, son David Becker of Corpus Christi, daughters, Paula Baimbridge of Ruidoso, NM, Donna Thomas of Midland and Ann Parker and husband Mark of Midland, grandchildren, Cody Baimbridge and wife Sarah of New Braunfels, Erin Baimbridge Fowler and husband Scott of McKinney, Laura Thomas Justice and husband Chance of Midland, Jeffrey Thomas and wife Brittany of Midland, Amanda Becker Wright and husband Jason of Woodbridge, VA, McKee Becker and wife Beth of Portland, Matthew Parker of Midland, Andrew Parker and wife Emily of Midland, Christian Parker and wife Lindsey of Dallas, Kaitlin Parker of Austin, and Hayley Ann Parker, deceased, great grandchildren, Aubrey, Kendal and Campbell Wright, Brooke Thomas, Hannah Fowler, Brooke and Brenna Becker, and Emme Kate Justice. He leaves a wonderful family, many cherished friends, a church he loved and a legacy of love that will extend for many generations. We should all be so lucky. A viewing will be held at Ellis Funeral Home on Sunday, May 20, 2012 from 2:00-4:00 PM. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, May 21, 2012 at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Midland, TX, Kathryn Boren officiating.
