Renea Pitchford

With heavy hearts the Pitchford family announces the passing of Renea “NaeNae” Pitchford on Sunday July 26, 2026, after a brief illness. Born October 20, 1961. Renea was raised in Midland TX where she attended Robert E. Lee High School and Midland College.

Preceded in death by her parent’s Waymon Pitchford Sr in 2009 and Barbara Pitchford in 2015 as well as her precious doggie Sandberg in 2009. Left to cherish Renea’s memories are her sisters Gayle Mitchell (Mike), Mona Free (Roy), Staci Taylor, and brother Waymon Pitchford Jr (Carole).

NaeNae loved and adored her nephews and nieces as she lovingly called them her “heartbeats”. NaeNae will be missed dearly by her heartbeats: Rusty Mitchell (Crystal), Michelle Green (Ryan), Patrick Free, Justin Free (Patricia), Nicole Brewer (Clay), Rachel Tatum (Garrett), Chis Taylor (Dacey), Waymon Taylor (Courtney), TJ Messer, and Caleb Perry. Along with great nieces and nephews: Elizabeth & Rachel Mitchell, Madi & Remi Green, Emery & Brady Brewer, August & Lucy Tatum, Ellie, Leyla, & Jack Taylor, and Sonora & Mack Taylor.

Renea has had so many phenomenal friends covering all the chapters of her life and the family extends great appreciation to Daveda Dean, Melanie Green, Janice Jackson, Lisa Taylor-Williams, Dean Doyen, Anthony Rodriquez, and David Epperson for being there for her. Laura Messer, Debbie Perry and Rhonda DeMone your friendships have been a blessing to her and the entire Pitchford family, we love and thank you.

As a Lifelong Chicago Cubs fan she said one of the best days of her life was when the Cubs won the World Series in 2016 when sisters Mona and Staci were circling her house waiting for the Cubs to win so they could surprise her and help her celebrate bringing her Cub’s banners, stuffed animals and confetti. Being an avid Cowboys fan, she knew by heart all of the Super Bowl wins. She, along with everybody else, realize it’s been a while since” The Boys” won that last ring. Along with her love of her Cubbies and Cowboys, she loved all forms of card/board/domino games including Clue which she would play with her heartbeats while camping on The Devil’s River, Hand and Foot, and chicken foot including game nights with Anna & Stephen Nail, and Janice Jackson. When camping, she was known by all of her “heartbeats” for being the s’mores queen stating she had the best s’mores ever! They all have special lifelong memories of “Dinner before s’mores.” Her “heartbeats” would take empty plates to her for trade for a marshmallow on a stick to roast while NaeNae prepared the graham crackers and chocolate bars. NaeNae Nights were also epic where so many memories were made with here heartbeats, once a year all the nieces and

nephews would spend the night with NaeNae, playing games along with making hot dogs and hamburgers.

Renea was employed with Furr’s supermarket for 30 years. She ended her career with H-E-B where so many customers and co-workers remained treasured friends.

For many years Renea was very actively involved with the National Multiple Sclerosis Society specifically the MS Cactus and Crude 150 cycling events. Renea was so well known and loved by the cyclist, as her infectious yell of “Yeah Yeah Yeah” could be heard from a great distance as she encouraged them to go farther than they thought they could and letting them know that they would cross the finish line and succeed. She met so many people from across the country through her volunteer work with the organization. A personal thank you to Tony Ralf and Deanna Stansberry for not only for the friendship and the mentorship that you gave Renea during her involvement with the MS Society.

Honorary Pallbearers Mike Mitchell, Roy Free, Waymon Pitchford Jr, Ryan Green, Clay Brewer, Garret Tatum, Anthony Rodriquez, TJ Messer, and Caleb Perry.

Officiated by Clay Brewer, services will be at Ellis Funeral Home on Friday August 28, 2026, at 10:00am with a private family interment at Fairview Cemetery.
