Dear Cathy-

I was certainly saddened to learn today of Dick's passing. Our relationship goes back to when I was coaching teams at Sam Houston Elementary on which Chuck played. Dick was always encouraging and complimentary, which I appreciated. Our occasional meetings over the years were always a welcome throwback to those good earlier days. I regret that we are away from Midland and unable to attend the Friday servixes, but will make contact when we return. We pray for encouragement and the peace of great memories during this time.

I first met Dick in 1976 when I showed up at his front door to take his daughter Mary on our second date. When I married her in 1978, I was honored to gain Dick as a father-in-law. But he was more like a father to me. And he always treated me like his own son. He was certainly one of the most generous and sincere men that I have ever known. There is a hole in my heart that can only be filled by the fond memories I have of the times we spent with him. Rest in peace.
