In 1976, after high school, Allen moved to Midland, Texas to work with his older brother, Eddie, surveying the oil fields for Texaco. After his time in the oilfield, Allen started his own construction company, Allen Construction which he carried on through retirement.
Allen had a variety of hobbies including hunting in the West Texas dunes for arrowheads and animal bones of which he created art. He called this art RAD Art - as it is his initials and it was exactly that....RAD! His other hobbies included taking his daughters, Kalli and Kenzi camping in the southwest mountains of Texas, cooking and grilling, donating food to the community and Midland's first responders, and listening to his favorite artist and old friend, Willie Nelson. Allen never met a stranger and he was always willing to lend a helping hand. His greatest companion was his German shepherd, Hallie. He had a heart of gold and a smile and laugh that would light up any room.
Allen is preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Don Elmo Dickson and Vivian Blakely Dickson, his twin-sister Lena Amber Dickson Morgan, and two brothers, Roy Edwin Dickson and Don Morris Dickson.
Allen leaves behind his two daughters, Kalli Dickson Reynolds and husband, Tyler, and Kenzi Dickson Weems and husband, Taylor as well as his grandson, Nathaniel Reynolds, all of Midland, Texas. Additionally, Allen is survived by his beloved nephew, Jeremy Tyler Dickson.
Friends and family are invited to gather to share memories in honor of Allen's life at a celebration of life at Ellis Resthaven Funeral Home in Midland, Texas on Thursday, August 21, 2025 from 4:00-6:00 PM. His final resting place will be near the family property in Grenada County, Mississippi with a private graveside service.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to make donations to the Midland Fire Department.
