Robert T. McLelland III

Robert was born on August 30, 1957, in Augsburg, Germany, to Virginia and Robert T. McLelland Jr., while his father was proudly serving in the Army. Robert lived a life defined by dedication, integrity, and a deep love for God and others.

Robert spent most of his childhood in Midland, Texas, and graduated from Lee High School in 1976. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Texas at Arlington in 1982.

Following his graduation, Robert embarked on a diverse and accomplished career that spanned commercial real estate, pharmaceuticals, and the oil and gas industry. In 1987, he married Tammy Smith, and together they had two sons, Collin and Cody. After beginning his career in commercial real estate, Robert transitioned into the pharmaceutical industry, where he worked for AstraZeneca and Johnson & Johnson. His natural leadership and dedication earned him a promotion to District Sales Manager with Johnson & Johnson in Seattle, Washington.

While living in Puyallup, Washington, Robert met the love of his life, Caroline. They married on August 5, 2006, and he welcomed her sons, Nicholas and Christopher, into his heart as his own. In 2008, Robert returned to Midland, Texas, to work as a Landman and to be closer to family. He later advanced to the role of Senior Landman at ConocoPhillips, which led to a relocation to Katy, Texas. After leaving ConocoPhillips, Robert continued his work independently until his retirement.

Robert was a devoted husband, a proud father, and a beloved grandfather. He will be remembered for his unwavering punctuality, boundless generosity, love of fireworks and music, quick wit, and unforgettable laugh. But above all, Robert will be remembered for his deep love for God and his family. His greatest joys came from reading and studying the Bible, sharing his faith, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Robert is survived by his loving wife, Caroline; his sons, Collin and his wife, Julie, Cody and his wife, Kinsley, Nicholas LoNigro, and Christopher LoNigro; and his grandchildren, Ryder, Remington, Barrett, Cohen, Maverick, Max Rupe, and Kaiya Rupe. He also leaves behind his mother, Virginia; his brother, Keith, and his wife, Maribel; his sister, Kris James, and her husband, Jeff; along with many other beloved family members and friends. Robert was preceded in death by his father, Robert T. McLelland Jr., and his brother, Andrew Fulton McLelland.

The family will receive friends on Friday, July 11, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Ellis Funeral Home in Midland, Texas. A celebration of Robert’s life will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at 12:00 PM at Ellis Funeral Home, followed by a graveside service at Resthaven Memorial Park.
