

Ruby La Vara Brasuell went to be with her Heavenly Father on Monday, January 24, 2011, she had most recently been a resident of Senior Care Center of Midland, and was a patient of Hospice in Midland. She was born on Monday, May 13, 1918 in De Leon, Texas to John Newman Bowman and Lela Earl Morgan Bowman. Ruby, her husband Joe and their family moved to Midland in September of 1956. She was a homemaker who loved to cook and contributed many recipes to numerous publications. Her life centered around her family and she loved all children. Her hobby and passion in life was photography. Her first camera was a Kodak Brownie, before she owned a camera she would rent one for special events. Thanks to her pictures many memories were saved that could have been lost. Ruby was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years Joseph (Joe) Grant Brasuell; one infant son; and one daughter Juanita Prater. She was also preceded by her parents, a brother Ardis Bowman, and four sisters Ava Fleming, Ella Vee Shugart, Velda Lawless Cupp and Roberta Logan Collins.Ruby is survived by six daughters; La Vera Caruthers of Warren, TX; Glenda Barron and husband Jimmy Burnett of Midland, TX; Joyce Patten and husband Jim of Bronte, TX; Kathy Holdridge of Midland, TX; Margaret Brasuell of Midland, TX; Becky Wilder and husband Bill of Midland, TX. She also leaves behind 24 grandchildren, 68 great grandchildren, and 33 great, great grandchildren.
