Sandra Swenson

She was educated in Midland and graduated from Lee High School in 1954. She then earned a degree in Art History from Colorado University, Boulder in 1958. Sandra was a professor of Art History at Pan American University (later renamed The University of Texas, Rio Grande Valley) in Edinburg, Texas for more than 30 years. After retirement, she traveled the world extensively and kept a summer home in Ouray, Colorado.

Sandra was a devout Christian and very active in her church.

Sandra was preceded in death by her parents Fridolf “Swede” Swenson and Leola Bigham Swenson. She is survived by her two nephews, Mark Swenson of Houston and Michael Swenson of San Antonio, her dearest friend Lynn Jimerson of Mansfield, Texas and cherished caregiver Edie Olivares-Cadena of San Antonio, Texas.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, May 29, 2025 at 1:00 pm at Resthaven Memorial Park.

Sandra was a devout Christian and very active in her church. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer’s Foundation or St Jude’s Children’s Hospital would be greatly appreciated.
