Spencer "Buddy" Smith

Spencer E. “Buddy” Smith, of Midland, passed away Tuesday, August 31, 2010. Buddy was born November 16, 1926 in Meeker, Oklahoma. He was raised and educated in Midland. He met and married Peggy Newcom on July 4, 1952 in Oklahoma. He worked as a draftsman for Texaco. Buddy was a member of Dance Club and Ballroom Dance Society. He loved to go to his Country & Western dances almost as much as attending his grandchildren’s activities. Nothing made him happier than being around friends and family. Buddy is preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Newcom Smith; two sisters, Billie Jo Roberts of Midland and Hazel Liner of Bryan, TX. He is survived by son, Roy Don Smith of Big Spring, TX; daughter, Judith Ann Lindsay of San Antonio, TX; son, Lawrence Gene Smith of Texarkana, TX; daughter, Susan K. Dormady and husband Bill, of Midland, TX; sister, Iva Lee “Boots” Wallis of Petal Mississippi; sister, Joyce Daylong of Rusk, TX; grandchildren, Amanda Ward of St. Louis, MO, Samatha Spencer and husband Ben, of Midland, Kristina Dormady of Longview, TX, Danyl Dormady and Kimberlea Dormady, both of Midland. And many loving nieces and nephews, great- nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Ellis Funeral Home, Monday, September 6, 2010 between the hours of 6:00 and 8:00 P.M. Funeral services have been scheduled for 10 A.M. Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at the Ellis Funeral Home Chapel with Gilbert Bela officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home.
