

Born on December 17, 1946, Marilyn was a lifelong Texan and a graduate of Coahoma High School. She was a long time employee of Coahoma ISD. She married the love of her life, Ronnie Burgess, and together they built a life centered on faith, family and generosity. Their marriage was a testament to enduring love and partnership.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, Ronnie Burgess; her father, Clay Bedell; her mother, Irene Barber; and her sister, Carolyn Manning.
She is survived by her children, Nancy Burgess (Vangie Buford), Tommy Burgess (Meredith) and LeAnn Pettenger (Robert). Grandchildren: Dylan (Mary), Tyler (Aimee), Faith (Alex) and Kaylee (Collin). She was blessed with nine great grandchildren: Jonas, Derek, Kinley, Elena, Parker, Rylee, Lonnie, Stella and Charlie. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Marilyn found joy in the simple things that made life beautiful. She loved reading, writing, playing the piano, singing, humming and spending time with her family. Her kindness, gentle spirit, and unwavering love for her family touched everyone who knew her.
For more than 30 years, Marilyn and Shirley Plunk, AKA Lucy and Ethel, were best friends.
Her family will remember her as a woman of faith, strength and compassion whose legacy will continue through the generations she loved so deeply.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Coahoma Athletic Booster Club.
