Stephanie was my adviser at Texas Tech almost 15 years ago and I still think of all she taught me and her caring and support.  I owe much of what I am and how I think as a psychologist to her.  I am forever indebted to her, and saddened by her loss.

Dr. Harter was my advisor and mentor at Texas Tech up until her recent passing. I will miss her caring, kind, and loving demeanor, as she always kept her students' best interests in mind and as a priority, regardless of the consequences.  Not only did she inspire me through her tremendous grammatical and narrative talents, I greatly appreciated her style of teaching statistics, as I finally found a teacher who could help me make sense of Structural Equation Modeling. In fact, on many occasions I referred to her as a walking statistical encyclopedia, to illustrate her vast knowledge of statistics. Dr. Harter was very considerate and understanding, and her kind heart is what I will miss the most.  I felt like I had a strong support system at Texas Tech, which was mostly composed of my relationship with Dr. Harter and our lab. Dr. Harter was also dedicated to her family, most particularly her husband and children, and my heart hurts for you, as your time has been cut far too short. Dr. Harter will always remain an inspiration for me, and I will always keep her close in my thoughts and memories.

Stephanie - Thank you for showing me kindness and encouragement when I needed them most.  God bless you.  Rest in deepest peace.

I am so sorry to hear this and am at a loss for words.  Dr. Harter was the shining light that guided me through graduate school, and I am forever in her debt.  I am so sorry and am thinking and praying for her whole family.

Dr. Harter was my adviser at Texas Tech University.  She was one of the most caring and kind-hearted people I've ever met.  I felt a kindred spirit with her and her introverted nature, which is not something you see a lot in academia.  She has touched so many students' lives over the years, and I'm grateful that I had the chance to learn from her.

On behalf of the Constructivist Psychology Network, our condolences to Stephanie's family, and especially Greg. Stephanie was indispensable to CPN--having served as treasurer, steering committee member, and president. We cared for her very much and will miss her dearly.
