T-Bob was an amazing and entrepreneurial person who was surrounded by friends throughout his life. T-Bob was born on March 25, 1947, to Kelly and Sammie Sue Amthor in San Angelo, and attended school in Ozona where he represented his high school in football, basketball, and track. Following high school graduation, T-Bob attended the University of Texas and graduated from Angelo State. He was employed by Lockheed Corp. at the Manned Spacecraft Center in Houston. He spent a few years 'finding' himself, before founding T-Bob Amthor Pipe company in Midland. He and, Larry Kilgore, and "Buddy" Johnson, longtime business associates, grew the pipe company into a successful operation. He continued to live in Midland the last thirty-five years of his life.
T-Bob loved fast cars, drag racing, his three beloved little dogs, the University of Texas Longhorns, and, more recently, the Texas Tech Red Raiders. He was a close friend to many and friendly to all.
T-Bob was preceded in death by his mother in '57, his father, his step-father, Joe F. Bussey, and his beloved grandparents, Sam and Nola Beasley, who raised him in the years following his mother's death.
Survivors include his two brothers at heart, Larry W. Kilgore of Midland and ES "Buddy" Johnson of Houston, TX, his three beloved dogs, an uncle, Jerry Beasley, step-mother Shirley Amthor, half-sister Barbara Jo, half-sister Patricia of Brownwood, the Larry Kilgore family, several cousins and all the employees of T-Bob Amthor Co, Inc., whom he considered his family, and a host of friends. T-Bob was accompanied by many caring companions, Catalina Martinez, Elma Durham, Christopher Durham, Pamela Polley, Rebecca Johnson, and many other caretakers and doctors, who made his final days easier. They have our eternal gratitude.
His final days were spent reflecting on his faith and exploring his relationship with our Lord and Savior. He had those whom he loved most around him and was a happy man.
