Virginia "Gin" Lois Howle was born May 1, 1939 in Rocksprings, Tx to Bernice and Carroll Smith. She grew up in Junction, TX where she met her first husband, John Rainey Evans, and had 2 children, John and Dana. She later married the love of her life, Enos Ray Howle, in 1967. and welcomed children Judy, Marolyn, Ray, and Ricky to the union. Together they welcomed daughters Diane and Jena. They were married for 41 years, until his passing in 2008 and they raised their large family and built a successful life together in Midland, TX.
Gin was such a special woman. She was strong, fierce, and determined, yet gentle and loving. She taught her children and grandchildren to work hard, be honest, and pursue their dreams. She poured her heart and soul into those she loved, always showing up whenever needed. Her strength, warmth, and unwavering love will stay with us forever.
Gin worked side by side with Enos in many of their business endeavors, from ranching and raising cattle to helping build and run a successful business, Howle’s Pipe and Supply. She loved hosting her large family gatherings as well as traveling and taking trips to the casino where she always had luck on her side. In her later years, her memory was hindered, but despite that she remained sweet and gentle. She loved and adored her caregivers who became family to her. She was the center of her family, the glue that kept everyone connected, and her absence will be felt deeply. We are heartbroken, but endlessly grateful to have been loved by her. She will forever live on in our hearts and in the many lives she has touched.
Gin was preceded in death by her husband, Enos Howle; daughter, Jennifer Culver; stepson, Ray Howle, her parents, Bernice and Carroll Smith; and siblings, Bill, Walter & Chuck Smith.
