Virginia Booth Pickett, 91, went home to our Lord in Heaven on Sunday, November 28, 2010 at Midland Memorial Hospital. She was born March 2, 1919 in Austin, Texas to John H. Booth and Bertha Isensee Booth, the youngest of their nine children. Virginia married Leon Wesley Pickett in Weatherford, Texas on July 30, 1938. Virginia graduated high school and secretarial school in Austin. She was one of the first members of the Desk and Derrick Club of Midland. She was an oil patch pioneer, opening her own office, Virginia Pickett Oil Reports. Virginia and Leon were the 28th couple to sign as members of the new Ranchland Hills Country Club, of which they were members for over a score of years. Virginia was an avid golfer. She also loved painting, fishing, Colorado and East Texas. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, brothers and sisters. Virginia is survived by her daughter, Sarah Ann Pickett McGarrahan, grandchildren, Chris McGarrahan; Scott McGarrahan and wife Lindsay; Amy McGarrahan Russell and husband Rhett; and six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her son Robert Glen Pickett and wife Debra of Midland, grandchildren Jared, Rebekah and Logan Pickett. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M.
