Willie Bob Morgan went peacefully to be with the Lord on April 29, 2014 at Midland Memorial Hospital. He had his family and friends close by his side. He was born to Ernest and Jessie Morgan on May 29, 1935 in Rattlesnake Hill near Tuscola, Texas. He was better known as “Man” to his family. His nickname was given to him by his mother as a term of endearment she called him “little man”. As a child Willie Bob and his family moved to Buffalo Gap, Texas. He graduated from Wylie High School in 1953 and was a member of the high school basketball team. He joined the US Army after graduation and upon his honorable discharge began his life long career with Central Texas Iron Works in Abilene, Texas. He transferred to Midland, Texas in 1962 where he worked until he retired in 1985. He married the love of his life Geraldine Wimberly on June 13, 1965.
Upon his retirement Geraldine and Willie had a passion to travel the United States. They took long trips to visit the east and west coast with their friends and family.
Willie was an easy–going, quite, sweet, kind gentleman. He can best be remembered for his quick witted sense of humor and his keen ability to tell stories about his early years with his sister in Buffalo Gap, Texas. Mostly he loved to spend time with his family and going fishing with his sons and grandsons. He was a devoted husband and he cherished his family dearly.
Willie Bob was preceded in death by his wife Geraldine, his parents, his sisters Grace Creech and Molly Jo Nation and grandson Eric Snow. He is survived by his children, Tom Snow and wife Jacque of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Gloria Smith and husband Richard of Lipan, Texas, Michael Snow and wife Cheryl of Midland, Texas, and sister Hazel Congelton of Abilene, Texas. He has nine grandchildren, twenty two great-grandchildren and five great great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his nieces Glenda Tannahill, Lisa Morgan, Vickey Nation, and Beverly Wade; and nephews John Creech, Richard Nation, Roger Nation and Ronald Beard as well as eight grandnieces and eight grand nephews.
Graveside memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 3, 2014 at Resthaven Memorial Park in Midland, Texas. Arrangements are under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home.
