You was born in southern China and an immigrant to Cambodia prior to WWII. At the age of 15, he had a charcoal business in Cambodia and when it fell to the Communist, he escaped to the United States. With the help of Joann Peterson, he came to Midland on November 29, 1979 and enjoyed freedom until his passing.
You is survived by his wife Sok Cheng Lim; three daughters: Lisa Chen (Fang Yang), Ngeng Hong Nhoy (Taing Meang), and Chheng Bouy Taing (Rene Salazar); three sons: Heap Taing (Sandra), Nguon Sour Taing, and Nguon Hong Taing (Mouy Teang); his grandchildren: David Chen, Sherry Chen, Linda Chen, James Taing, Kevin Nhoy, Stephanie Nhoy, Christina Nhoy, John Taing (Mariel), Juan Salazar, Adrian Taing, Andrew Taing, Austin Taing, Jennifer Taing, and Melinda Taing; and two great grandchildren Malana Taing and Nicholas Tang.
Visitation for Mr. Taing will be held on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at Ellis Funeral Home from noon to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 29, 2011 at the Ellis Funeral Home Chapel at 1 p.m. with interment following at Resthaven Memorial Park. A reception will follow the graveside service at Taste of China of Midland.
