Agnes Short Word

She was born in Brunswick Co. VA. Agnes was preceded in death by her parents Kenneth & French Lucy Short, her sister Etta Hill, and her husband of 67 years, Charles Parke Word, Jr. She is survived by her three children, Elizabeth Mattingly (Steve), David Parke Word (Donna) and William Charles Word (Tina); grandchildren, Joshua Mattingly (Michelle), Hannah Mattingly, Parke Word (Lindsay), Nathan Word (Hannah); ten great grandchildren: Barbara, Catherine, Stephen, Molly, Emily, Mary, Quinn, Audrey, Emma and Sophie; her sister, Jean Turner and sister-in-law, Mary Norbeck. She was a lifetime member of Immanuel Baptist Church and enjoyed hosting church activities at her home. Agnes was devoted to her family and took great pleasure in keeping up with her grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to Immanuel Baptist Church Missions fund on Monument Avenue. The family greatly appreciates the care mom received from the staff at Bickford of Chesterfield. A celebration of Agnes’ life was held privately by her family.
