

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alexander and Bertha Anonick; and his brother, Henry Anonick. Al is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Joan Anonick; brother, Bruce Anonick (Susan); seven children, Timothy Anonick (Carole), Jeffrey Anonick (Heidi), Carolyn Farthing, Stephen Anonick, Patrick Anonick (Robin), Kristen Holland (Lawrence), and A.J. Anonick (Jennifer); eighteen grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
Al was born on April 21, 1939, in Dearborn, MI. He attended Allen Park High School as a member of the Class of 1957 and excelled on the Varsity Swimming Team. Al married Joan on September 27, 1958. After attending Wayne State University, Al worked in a pharmacy before working at the Great Lakes Steel Mill. Then, he worked in sales for Motorola, eventually working his way up to the role of Sales Manager. Al and his family moved to Midlothian, VA in 1980, and he retired in 1996.
Al was extremely involved in the Knights of Columbus and served as the Former Grand Knight of Council 6546 and Former Faithful Navigator of McMahon Assembly 2205. He also served as the Head Usher at St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church. Al was active in the lives of his children and grandchildren, always encouraging them in achieving their goals. He often volunteered in his community including in the Queensmill Neighborhood and at church. In between caring for his family, Al enjoyed following golf, Detroit sports, and politics on Fox News. His lively personality always lit up a room. Al appreciated a good laugh and admiring God’s creation during thunderstorms.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church on Thursday, September 21, 2023. There will be a mass and reception to follow.
