Ann Shepherd Spencer

SPENCER, Ann Shepherd, born December 31, 1932 in Farmville, Va. She was preceded in death by her father, William J. Shepherd; and mother, Esther T. Stimpson; daughter, Carolyn Ann; son, Bill; and her husband of 54 years, The Honorable Robert B. Spencer Jr.; two brothers, William and Steve Shepherd; and a sister, Gwen Carpenter. She is survived by her son, Robert Bruce "Bruce" Spencer III and his wife, Ellen Edgar Spencer; loving cousins that she lived and grew up with after the early death of her mother, Page Crute Switzer and John Crute. She is also survived by nieces and nephews, Cybill Shepherd, William J. Shepherd III, Catherine Shepherd Burgess, Debbie Shepherd Feeney, Becky Shepherd Rettenmaier, Steve Shepherd, Tom Carpenter and Shelly Carpenter; along with a number of grandnieces and nephews. She attended RPI, was a member of Buckingham County Woman's Club, Dillwyn Garden Club, Brandermill Country Club, Brandermill Women's Golf Association and a member of The Brandermill Church. Ann was a devoted wife, loving mother and a friend to everyone she met. The viewing will be held Friday, October 28, 2016, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Woody Funeral Home, Huguenot Chapel, 1020 Huguenot Rd., Midlothian, Va. 23113. The funeral will be held Saturday, October 29, 2016, at 11 a.m., at The Brandermill Church, 4500 Millridge Pkwy., Midlothian, Va. 23112, with a short reception immediately following at the church. There will also be a graveside service 4 p.m. Saturday at Dillwyn Town Cemetery, Dillwyn.
