Arthur Edwin Parman

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ada "Jackie" Florence Parman; sisters, Margaret "Midge" Alice Parman (Ken), Joan Lillian Parman (Bob), Helen May Parman (Harry) and Jean Parman (Ken).

He is survived by his daughter, Lesley Anne Ecker; granddaughters, Brittany Nicole Cooke (Stephen) and Rileigh Dyan Neff (Nathan); great-grandchildren, Jaxon Connor Cooke and Carleigh Grace Cooke.

Born in England on July 29, 1928 where, after enduring a couple of schools being blown up during World War II, Fred proudly served in the British Royal Army for several years where he met his future wife, Jackie, as she was also serving. After marrying, they moved to Beckenham, Kent (UK) where their only daughter, Lesley, was born. A few years later, they moved to Warlingham, Surrey (UK) before finally relocating to the USA in 1992 when their daughter, who had married a United States Marine in 1983, announced that she would not be returning to England to live.

They went on to spend several years in Seattle, WA before moving to their final residence in Stafford, VA. Jackie succumbed to Alzheimer's disease in 2017 and Fred subsequently moved in with his daughter and her family shortly thereafter. Fred loved a good beer, an even better "drop of whisky" and chocolate.

He was a very talented carpenter and spent many hours "tinkering" in his woodshop. He also loved his garden and loved to dance. Although he will be deeply missed, his family has found peace in knowing that he is once again reunited with Jackie and his memory will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Services will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for plants or small trees that can be planted in the family's back yard in his memory.

A special thanks goes to the nursing staff and caregivers at River View on the Appomattox in Hopewell. The family cannot express their gratitude enough for the care and love that was shown to Fred throughout his stay there.
