Barbara Jean Loewen, age 79, was born and raised in Sauk Rapids, Minnesota, a place that shaped her quiet strength and caring heart. She passed away peacefully on January 3, 2026, in Richmond, Virginia, surrounded by love.
On July 13, 1968, Barbara married the love of her life, Ronald Loewen. Their marriage of 57 years was a true partnership, built on devotion, respect, and deep affection. Though life took them from Minnesota to California and ultimately to Powhatan, Virginia, home was always wherever they were together. Their greatest joy was found not in places, but in one another and in the family they lovingly raised.
Barbara devoted more than 30 years of her professional life to “K” Line America, where she served as Manager of Import Documentation and West Coast Services. She was known for her dedication, reliability, and quiet excellence, earning the trust and respect of colleagues throughout her long career.
Above all else, Barbara’s heart belonged to her family. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, motherhood was her greatest calling and her proudest joy. All she ever wanted was to care for those she loved, and she did so selflessly, faithfully, and with unwavering devotion until the very end.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Ronald; her sons, Erik, Brian, and Jeffrey; her daughters-in-law, Nerissa and Karen; and her treasured grandson, Charlie, who brought her endless joy. She is also survived by her sister, Michelle (Paul) Rademacher; her brother, Terrance (Lynn) Moore; and many nieces and nephews who will miss her deeply.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy and Donald Moore, and her brothers, David, Richard, and Stephen Moore.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Chapters Health Hospice, and to Mark and Catherine Girsham of Admired & Retired Personal Care Home, whose compassion, kindness, and loving care brought comfort to Barbara and her family during her final days.
Barbara will be remembered for her gentle spirit, steady presence, and unconditional love — the kind of love that made people feel safe, cared for, and truly at home.
