

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Janice D. Dyer; son Peter Ashley Dyer (Erin); daughter Sydney Elizabeth Dyer; granddaughters Brynn Elodie Dyer, Livi Grace Dyer, and Teagan Ashley Dyer; as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Benjamin Franklin Dyer Sr., his mother Adrienne Gregory Dyer; brother George Dickerson Dyer, and a son who passed at birth.
Ben was born in Danville, Va. in May of 1942. As a child he spent his time playing checkers on the playground with his wife, flinging newspapers as a paperboy, and being a proud Boy Scout. After his service in the Marine Corps, he worked hard and graduated from Virginia Tech (VPI), where he received his degree in Architecture and became an award-winning architect who has drawings in the Library of Congress.
In addition to being a great friend, a loving husband, father and grandfather, Ben was also a sculptor, an artist, a collector, a member of the Richmond Antique Tool Society, and the Charter Secretary and President of the Midlothian Rotary Club.
His Celebration of Life will be Saturday June 3rd, 2023 at 11:00 am at Woody Funeral Home – Huguenot Chapel,1020 Huguenot Rd, Midlothian, Va. 23113.
The family would like to thank The Laurels of Bon Air, James River Hospice, Shakeema Mullen at the Cremation Society of Virginia, Hanna Batiz at Woody Funeral Home, and Ed Cross for all of their dedication and care for Ben and his family during this time.
