On Thursday, 01 June 2023, Carrie Ames Blincoe found her eternal rest after a brief and unexplained illness. Carrie was a protective, loving mother, a devoted, beautiful wife, and a dedicated daughter and friend.
A native of Bon Air, Virginia, Carrie graduated from Midlothian High School in 1993 and went on to graduate from North Carolina State University in 1997 with degree in Business Management, Magna Cum Laude, and was inducted into the Gamma Beta Phi Honor Society. Following a short career in mortgage brokerage, Carrie relocated to Midlothian and obtained an Associate’s Degree in Nursing from John Tyler Community College in 2007 and went on to serve as a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Room of Johnston Willis Hospital.
Carrie met her husband in 2010, married in 2011, and moved to Northern Virginia where she set aside her nursing and devoted her life to the care of her marriage, her children, and animals. Carrie’s passion for animals was second to the love for her children. There was not an animal she did not connect with. She began working for veterinary clinics and when being a full-time mother required her to be at home, she began pet-sitting and dog walking. She would often come home with animals just to stop by and let her kids see them.
Carrie was always a caring soul. Family, friends and those in need were never more than a phone call or arm’s length away.
Carrie is survived by her parents, Allen and Carol Ames of Midlothian; brother, Chris (Jonni) of Martinsville and their children Hunter, Haden, Haylee, and Holden Harless; uncle and aunt Ken and Barbara Lewis of Oregon; cousins Summer, Bree, Silas, Brodie, and Ryan; father and mother-in-law Thomas and Rita (dec.) Porterfield, father and mother-in-law George and Carla Blincoe, sisters-in-law Kelly Blincoe, Kent Duffey (Peter), Ann McLaughlin (Jason) and their families; many extended family members she adored; her children Nora and Joshua, and her husband, Drew, who will all love and miss her with every breath.
Service will be held at 2pm on Sunday, June 11 at Huguenot United Methodist Church, 10661 Duryea Drive in Richmond with a reception to follow at the church (Casual office attire is acceptable).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Richmond SPCA in memory of Carrie.
