

OLDAKER, Charles "Charlie" "Gary," of Richmond, died July 24, 2016. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Martha Oldaker; and aunt, Mary Ann Thompson. Survivors include his loving wife, Alice; his furry princesses, Meg and Annie; two sons, David (Becky) and Bert (Faune); four grandchildren, Hannah Eding (Pat), Helen, Max and Lily; one soon-to-be great-granddaughter; sister, Chris Dean (Bill) and their daughter, Marianne (Stan Riker); one sister-in-law, Bonnie Prims (Jim) and their children, Jim, Bonnie, and Jennifer; five great-nieces and nephews; and a dear friend, Gloria Litkenhaus. He served over 20 years in the U.S. Navy, achieving Lieutenant, and retiring as Master Chief. Charlie was a friend of Bill W. with 19 years of trusted service, where he had many close and beloved friends. Over the years, he volunteered with the Boy Scouts and the S.P.C.A. He was a staunch Republican and worked to get his candidates elected. He was an avid fan of Game of Thrones. He loved riding his motorcycle with his close friends and enjoyed Ocracoke. His remains rest at the Huguenot Chapel of Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Road, where the family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
