Christine Redmond Johnson

Christine was born on June 26, 1951, to Walter Edward Redmond and Audrey Vivian Pulliam. She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved sister, Margaret Redmond Rambo. She lived a life centered on family, compassion, and caring for others. She graduated from Johnston Willis Nursing School in 1972. As a Labor and Delivery nurse at Henrico Doctors' Hospital Forest for over 30 years, she helped welcome new lives into the world. At home, she devoted that same tenderness and care to the people she loved most. Whether caring for a new mother and baby or simply being there for someone in need, Christine had a generous heart and was always ready to help.

Above all else, Christine was a devoted mother. Her children were her world, and she always put them first. No matter what they needed, she was there to help, encourage, listen, and support them. She was the person they could turn to when life was difficult, and she celebrated their joys as though they were her own. Her love and support never wavered, and her children will forever carry with them the lessons, strength, and love she gave them.

Christine treasured her role as a grandmother. She took great joy in watching her grandchildren grow and was happiest when she could be part of their lives. She loved hearing about their accomplishments, seeing their smiles, and simply spending time with them. Each grandchild held a special place in her heart. The memories each grandchild made with their “Neneen” will be remembered and cherished forever in their hearts and minds.

Christine is survived by her loving partner of 10 years, Earl Gunn, who loved her unconditionally and devoted his heart and life to her. Through their years together, and especially during her final journey, Earl remained steadfastly by her side, caring for her with extraordinary love and compassion and giving her comfort, strength, and unwavering support every step of the way. She is also survived by her three children, whom she shared with James Samuel Johnson Jr., and their families: her daughter, Heather Johnson Borum and her husband, Chris Borum; her daughter, Courtney Rhea Hunter and her husband, Robert Hunter; and her son, William Blake Johnson. She leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Johnathan Bradley Hunter and his fiancée, Tia Marie Crowder; Jessica Lyn Tanner; Robert Calvin Hunter and his wife, Abigail Grace Hunter; Samuel Jackson Hunter; Joseph Jameson Hunter; and Wyatt Sebastian Borum.

Christine's greatest legacy will always be the love she poured into her family. She gave so much of herself to the people she loved, always making sure those around her knew they were cared for and supported. Her presence brought comfort, her heart brought warmth, and her love gave her family a place to turn.

Although her family will miss her more than words can express, they can find comfort in knowing that the love Christine gave them will never leave. It will live on in her children and grandchildren, in the family she cherished, and in the countless people whose lives she touched.

She will be remembered for her loving heart, generous spirit, devotion to her family, and unwavering love for those around her. Christine was deeply loved, and she will be deeply missed.

The family will receive friends from 5-8pm on Friday, October 2 at Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Road for a Visitation. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11am on Saturday, October 3 at Calvary Baptist Church, 10230 Hull Street Road Midlothian, VA 23112. Graveside will take place at Oakwood Cemetery at 2pm.

Until we meet again, may Christine rest peacefully in the loving arms of the Lord. Her life was a gift, her love was a blessing, and her memory will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
